A technique for generating record-low-noise microwave/mmWave signals by transferring the stability of a high-quality optical reference down to the RF domain through an Optical Frequency Comb. Because the division reduces phase noise by the square of the division factor, OFD achieves spectral purity beyond other approaches (integrated, chip-scale demonstrations in Nature 2024 — see ref).
